When Big Tymers had a hit single with "Get Ya Roll On" Eric dropped this as a single and it was a hit..

E just came in during the new millinium era of new rappers and put out an undeniable hit...after his prime. I have yet to see Mannie Fresh put out a hit song of such magnitude after his prime....even tho I would like to cuz I fuxx with Mannie Fresh.

That was a weak reach....I'm objective enough to know that If anything u should have posted the song Go DJ which was 10 X bigger that same year then that bullsh*t u posted.

Also.....I said "after his prime"......2002 is real close to 2004. You have nothing which further proves my point.

What makes it a minstrel show? Was epmd saying some deep meaningful shyt that i missed or were they making cross over songs ABOUT crossing over, that turned out to be their biggest cross over hit ? Bling bling or what

What makes it a minstrel show?? lyrics like this:

Ain't got no job, but I stay sharp
Can't pay my rent, cause all my money's spent
but thats OK, cause I'm still fly
got a quarter tank gas in my new E-class
But that's alright cause I'm gon' ride
got everything in my moma's name

Here you are going hard for rappers who promoted one of the worst stereotypes of Blackfolks in their biggest song.

Meanwhile EPMD had lyrics like this.

That's why, men in the 90's must watch themselves
(cause ladies of the 80's got hip and went for self)
(With the new divorce laws, which entitles them half)
That means the house goes
(the car)You and half your cash
(what a price to pay, but if you play you pay)
(Cause women of the world they got smart today)
(They flash a smile and profile)
A pucker with a strut
(try to move in Knock the boots
(and got stuck, with alimony payments)
Time to meet judge wapner
(you try to flip and cut, but she smiles 'cause she gotcha)
(You get a flashback to wedding, when you vowed the vow)
(Said the two deadly words)
I do(but look now, you lost the house)
The car(eating TV dinners in a one bedroom apartment)
Boy you picked a winner
(but what goes around, comes around)
That's why she wheels the benz
(and you ride greyhound)
(Oh, just your luck, they on strike)
(Take off the wedding band, put out the thumb, time to hitch-hike)
(And the more you walk the pain from your corns get bigger)
(now you know)Not to mess with a gold digger

While Big Tymers were making songs about a Black stereotype of reckless spending, EPMD were informing the masses about women to watch for to help you keep your money. Like Art Barr said..u already exposed yourself.

You can have the last word...I already know you trolling.

Epmd, never appealed to me, they seemed generic imo, dozens of popular rappers like them.

Big tymers were clown tho, but they had catchy music

I think of better options then either group.

:what: Go DJ isn't even his song. He's just on the hook. You said "past his prime." 2004 is past his prime.

Exactly.....That song u posted was not as big as E Doubles song Music....The biggest thing Mannie was affiliated with that year was Go DJ. And the fact that you went 2 years after Mannies so called prime when E put the song Music out 8 years after his prime further proves that you have nothing.

Let's keep it funky all you guys shilling for the Big Tymers don't have a real leg to stand on knowing good and well neither Birdman nor Baby were any good on the mic. I'm not saying Eric and Parrish were top grade lyricists but they were more than competent on the mic when push came to shove and did so in an era where you were tested on a regular basis. Furthermore we basically have shown in multiple threads how Strictly Business productionwise helped set the template for G-Funk and in turn Southern production. You can't be a derivative product and be superior to the originators. If you prefer the Big Tymers or identify with them more fair enough but in no way, shape, form or metric, aside from sales can you say the Big Tymers were the better group.

What rap group sounded or looked like EPMD when they came out? This thread is disrespectful on so many levels. Manny Fresh himself would slap the fukk out the OP for posting this bullshyt.
