is it begins immedatiely after the first movie ends,
so there is no room for off-screen Character Development.

Luke went from being damn-near dead at the end of Empire,
...to being a composed Jedi Knight @ the start of ROTJ (15yrs later)

that 15yr gap in Canon gave Lucas the freedom to re-imagine the character.
...what if ROTJ started right after Empire with Luke crying and shyt w/ no arm?

that shyt would be a waste of a movie..
but thats basically what TLJ did with everybody lol

this is why Finn & Poe have no progression movie-to-movie,
and why Rey's transition from junkyard scavenger hoe to Jedi Knight is not respected.

Anakin went from zero-to-hero in two movies just like Rey,
but the next time u see Anakin after Phantom Menace he a grown ass man gettin p*ssy and shyt.

George GOATcas always did the time-jump inbetween movies

I mean the first movie ends with Rey standing in front of Luke. Would have been weird to jump months or years.

I feel like the time jumps is basically what doomed this series.

I never understood how the empire could fall then be back in the Force Awakens without skipping a beat and stronger.

I think Lucas’ greatest strength is he understood how to scale a threat.Abrams just goes bigger and Rian likes that mirrored threat on a intimate scale.

Vader wasn’t nearly as menacing as he could have been with today’s technology (like RogueOne) but he came across as threatening to everyone on both sides. Ain’t nobody scared of Kylo Ren.

Wait, it wasn’t a 15 year gap between Empire and ROTJ tho...Am I misreading what you’re saying? ROTJ was like only a few months to a year after the end of Empire. The new trilogy is ass cheeks regardless

It is not even that deep. It just sucks, plain and simple. :yeshrug:

Really, Star Wars itself isn't that deep. Was never intended to be deep, but still had quality to it (Originals, Revenge of the Sith, and Rogue One). Cool fantasy films. :manny:

    actually you are correct.
i am getting my movies mixed up with the 15 year interval.

    yep

Rogue One is the only movie that showcases how the Death Star was really a cheat-code for the Empire.

country ass Luke blew the first one out the sky in the first movie so i have never taken DS very seriously.

Big teddy bears outsmarted the second Death Star in ROTJ, so again...hard to take serious.

Death Star was in bully mode in Rogue One....Dir Krennic is the best Imperial Officer since Tarkin

    i see where you are coming from and don't really disagree;
but Rey hung out with Luke for a couple hours, lifted some small pebbles off the ground and was basically Super Saiyan 3
idk if it should work like that.

i contribute that more to bad writing than the fault of a time-jump.

but if we are being realistic the Empire should've never fell in the first place
they still had hundreds of capial ships, infantry etc etc even with VADER and PALP gone

i always interpreted Kylo as more of an anti-hero than a true vllain.
i think him turning was always in the cards...
he was still a solo/skywalker at the end of the day

It’s my opinion the movies would’ve worked WAY better had they focused on the empire remnants sooner with a strong new republic fighting them and a new Sith threat instead of the weak government we got and more rebels basically. How you defeat the empire and still have a weak ass military? Luke should’ve also had an established group of new Jedi popping....learning from the mistakes the old council made.

    agreed.

And if they were to fall back I just don’t see how they are just able to come back exactly like before.

Neo Nazis aren’t walking around in 1940s German military outfits.

Disney wanted to make red, green, blue Stormtroopers to sell on iconography and not what would actually grow out of the power vacuum of the Empire falling and the Republic/Jedi trying to rebuild.

They just copied and pasted to make a quick buck.

PALP created the empire. PALP was a strong leader, and Vader a strong and feared 2nd in command. PALP was a sith and Vader was a corrupt jedi. They were damn near untouchable unless they were faced with others with the force. Once they were gone, so was the empire.Without strong "human" leadership, empires/organizations always crumble despite the numbers of followers...whether it is for good or bad.

It would take years to build up something of that sort again. And who was in the lead....a sith and a corrupted jedi-in-training. And as it was revealed in Rise, PALP was still in charge all this time.
