Rest in Peace to John H. Johnson of Ebony/Jet/Ebony Jr. He was the one person who was an AA decision maker/gatekeeper for the image projected for his people around the globe in his era.
The other gatekeepers were white people.
Luckily today, media is somewhat democratized, and people can tell their own stories and project a 3 dimensional view of what their people are doing.
The bad part is that people have been fed stereotypes for over a century, so they believe them and can only view people through those lenses. And they have developed an appetite for that type of content. That goes for white and Black people, here and internationally.
