Running that Mavs offense with some tweaking. I was just talking about this the other day in the T-Wolves thread. They have a dynamic PF with an inside-out game, so you have to leave lanes open or concede open 3s. They have 3-4 players with legit range on the floor at all times. Batum functions as a playmaker and he has a lot more freedom this season, he's putting in work. If McCollum can contribute that'll help a lot. Bench is thin, the starters gonna be tired come playoff time.
Breh remember from the podcast, you were spiting about how Batum, is anything but a typical French cat...

The first game after Warriors / Blazers brawl, Batum gets interviewed for being the player of the game. So the reporters ask him, how do you feel about Mo Williams being suspended for a game.

Batum: We had to go out and win this for him. Mo stood up for us, and took one for the team, Batum, then proceeds to throw out a hand gesture and shouts out Mo :wow:

It's all so simple too: their whole offense is basically running a UCLA cut, then Aldridge with the High Screen and Roll. With the UCLA cut, it can easily turn into a flare screen for 3 (you see Wes often get free for those) if the defender isn't alert. Then when they run Batum on the cut, if he's got a smaller guy on him and the backdoor isn't there, they just post him up.

When the cut isn't there, the High PNR with Aldridge is so deadly, because he can shoot. You can't (well, you SHOULDN'T) go under the pick with Lillard/Williams/Matthews with the ball as they can easily hit the 3. Lillard is so good with the ball, that he can either hit the pull up, or just drop it off to LMA if the D over-commits. And if LMA decides to Roll (which is rare, but put Lopez/Freeland in that spot), the D can't help as much because the spacing is good, and all their guys can hit the 3. It's really fun to watch. Spurs will always be my preferred viewing as far as offensive gameplan, but Portland is right up there.

The one thing that I've noticed from watching them (and I've commented on this in the Random Thoughts thread), is the Batum/Lopez is really effective. I don't know why, but them 2 have really good chemistry. I saw a game where Batum had 8-9 assists, and I'd wager that 6-7 of 'em were to Lopez on the PNR.

Also, I can't wait to see Miami play them, as they're so damn aggressive on the PNR. That's gonna be a fun matchup.

Been fuking with them on 2k

Lillard pull up 3 and LMA mid range fade away jumpers :banderas:
Used to fukk with them in 2k11 i think it was. One of my favourite teams to play with along with GSW and Philly.. Brandon Roy before the injury was liable to drop 40 any night. Wes Matthews was good for 20. Batum off the bench. Miller a serviceable PG. Wallace locking dudes down and grabbing any board. And of course Aldridge was putting that work in.
most slept on team in 2k

:wow:

This is what I absolutely love about basketball. The Blazers might be a real force to reckon with in the western conference.

I was really sleeping on them

:wow: Look at all the options & motion their set has, Stotts got them out there looking like Hoosiers.

It seems like isolation ball is pretty much dying, the Blazers have a beautiful offense brehs. That channel is fukking dope by the way, highly recommend it for their breakdowns of NBA sets.

The thing that makes it so hard to guard is that they got snipers surrounding LA, so if you double him the it's :merchant: Play him one on one and it's :to:

The one thing that would put them over the top I think would be a center who can command a double team on the low block and score in there, that way they could run a High low post option with LA spotting up on the perimeter :wow:

They'd be unstoppable:wow:

I gotta catch my man Hubie Brown calling one of their games, he'd be struggling to keep it together with offensive sets of this high quality happening

Terry Stotts is running such a nice offense, also impressed with some of the sets Jeff Hornacek has been running with the Sun. Some great spacing

Been expecting them to break out. They have one if not the best starting five's in the league. All they needed was some bench scoring and better defense.

all their players move really well without the ball and try to get open at all times.. even when one man takes and makes an open shot, there were 2-3 other options that were open for a shot as well.

only problem is moving forward, dorell wright and thompson robinson are liabilities on offense...

Dorell has a tendency to jack up three's.
And everything Robinson does looks forced...

As long as Lopez stays healthy the blazers have a good shot of going far, but the bench is a major liability imo...
wright isn't a liability on offense :rudy: idk whats up with him this year but he's one of the best 3 point shooters in the league and a solid defender. He's a perfect role/bench player
