Framber Valdez and….Tarik Skubal are still in play

I didn't see why not. Valdez just cost money and Stearns has been preaching run prevention since the season ended. Run prevention starts on the mound. All star rotation with gold glove defense up the middle and in center have been the formula for winning for the last 100 plus years.

Peralta/McLean/Valdez is a great top 3, and if you empty out the rest of the farm for Skubel, that rotation is pretty unbeatable.

Senga and one of Baty/Vientos is major league talent ready to be traded in a big deal. If they sign valdez they can also move Peterson to fill any other holes or additional major league talent in a potential ace trade. I still hope we get Suarez to replace Pete's home runs but I'm liking the look of the offense.

@Trust Me Stearns is cheffing it up. Apologize. lol
Man fukk that nerd :heh:
I wonder if the Mets are thinking about going into the next offseason gambling on getting one of Skubal and Peralta instead of extending Peralta.
Naaa.. I think Peterson's 8 mil come the books. Manaea would have 1 year left on his contract, so I'm sure his 19 mil could be moved. If Senga doesn't do a 180, his last year at 14 mil could be moved also. We've only got 11 players under contract for 2027, and 4 of them have options.

Morale of the story.. we'll make the room.

Haven’t paid much attention this offseason. But Diaz changes everything. The batting lineup after 3, infield defense, and bullpen leaves a lot to be desired.

I have PTSD and can’t get excited smh

Great deal.

I’ve been listening to a few places like baseball America and just call up mlb discuss Met prospects recently and they all seem to like AJ Ewing better than Jett. They think he’s a better fielder and has a better hit tool

With Jett it seems like he’s not a great fielder and his hit tool is not great. He’s calling card is his speed and power but you’re banking on a 5’7 160 LB dude to hit for power which is dicey

They seem to think his ceiling is poor mans Ozzie Albies who could hit 20 hrs a year

Sproat is thought of as a backend arm

Raleigh by way of Crooklyn
By all accounts we have a bunch of highly regarded young arms in the farm system, so while it hurts to lose Sproat, we're still dealing from a position of strength. I'd like to see them make a move for Suarez to replace some of Pete's power, but something tells me that isn't a big part of Stearns' recipe.

Anything longer than a 1 year deal on Suarez, I'm good on. Let him go finesse the Angels or some shyt if he wants a longer deal.

Besides that, where would he even play here?

That's the main concern I've got with this team right now. Where's the power coming from? And we essentially don't have an opening anywhere.
