They'll never play an AZ song on the station in Houston....I understand we in the South...but there are 100s of thousands of transplants from other parts of the country...

Need to let a breh go up there for a week and takeover........ :birdman:

So I turn to the Philly station and they playing Method Man and Mary J. Blige "All I Need to Get By"..and then Noreaga "Whut Whut"... ... :ehh: .. with that said..... I find it hard to believe the Philly station would play UGK classics ... ..... so it is what is I guess.. :manny: ..... even though it would be nice if these stations put regionalism aside and just play the wide breadth of Classic American Hip Hop .... :yeshrug:

I might start putting my bluetooth on and connect to this station when I'm driving .. :heh:

You can tell people really appreciate these stations, with the recorsded phone calls they air in between songs..

yea. i guess the playlists will vary from city to city, which is a good thing.

theyre not playing UGK but theyre playing southern classics that reasonate with the market.

and yea, the philly station digs a bit deeper in the crates. theyre not going all that deep either, but they definitely have better people programming the station than whoever does houston's channel.

shyt is corny. 3 million old school throwback songs but they play basically the same 20 songs.

all the stations arent the same.

this is noticeably better than the houston station breh. they dont dig that deep in the crates either, but its not as basic as houston.

houston even plays the hook from that black eyed peas "boom" song after every commercial break. THATS A NO-NO in a market like philly.

i luuuuuuuuuuuuh this god damn station brehs....they played reasonable doubt and black album back to back on hovs bday last week
had me kinda :dwillhuh: that they could keep sayin 103 point nikka 9 on the radio. i remember listen to the homie al b and they did that call in shyt...always ended with the "you doe doe head" send off :pachaha:

they played the entire albums?

yea, the o.g. 103.9 was piff. same playlist as power 99 but way more fun.

my favorites were zulu & the family. i think they were al b silk's replacements when he left.

al b silk was the homie too. i remember randomly seeing his name in headlines years later when he got assaulted by the game in virginia or somewhere.

I had a lot of friends/associates over at Hot 107.9 so it sucks that they lost their jobs. Plus Hot 107.9 showed love to the up and coming artists in Philly unlike Power 99 (clear channel)

To be honest, It's not even that today's music is bad it's just there's a lack of representation of many types of hip hop & r&b outside of "ratchet" music. Unfortunately, Hot 107.9 was the only station in Philly that used to show love to the underdogs and up & coming artists in the city so their presence will be missed. I also feel really bad for the people I'm cool with at the station who lost their jobs.

yea good point.

i know i said "good riddance" to hot 107.9 but now that you mention it, it wouldve been better if power 99 got replaced cuz they serve no purpose outside seniority & brand loyalty.

94.5 in dallas. The 9am morning mix is great. They do play a lot of the same stuff, but I hear plenty of songs that I haven't heard in ages.

UPDATE: they're in ATLANTA now!

Boom 102.9

This station is FLAMES! Me and wifey felt like we in the damn club on the commute home. :pachaha: I actually like listening to the radio during our commute because I have a ton of music on my phone and I usually listen to THAT while I'm working. So to have a radio station with a bit of variety is great.

In fact, Atlanta also has OG 97.9 FM now, too, which ALSO plays classic hip-hop but which also plays R&B, too. That station is also bangin'.

It's like an embarrassment of riches. :win:
