The boxoffice reception of Christy, Smashing Machine, and Iron Claw really shows that niche biopics about combat sports/wrestlers just do not interest

While that's probably true, a lot of dramas have bombed this spring/fall and the trend will carry into the winter. Including biopics like the Springsteen movie. Box office is popping but for whatever reason audiences aren't interested in these films. I think part of it is just like....how many biopics do you need of people who no one cares about? The Sydney Sweeney film...who is the chick she plays? I've never heard of her lol. Same with the Smashing Machine. Who is hyped to see a film about that guy?

Even Springsteen feels like an artist that is out of style now with young people. You could have made that movie a decade ago and it would do well.

That korean demon hunter flick showed that young folks still watch movies, it's just that Hollywood got no idea who young folks fukk wit

Agreed. Damn near every horror movie was a hit this year. Multiple action movies did well. A couple anime films did great like you said. I think people want to see event films. If it’s a drama they want to see a star. Timmy C and Leo had big movies. MBJ had Sinners. Pedro Pascal had a couple big movies.

Those movies just aren't very good. All three Creed movies made huge bank. The Wrestler made 45 million on a 6 million dollar budget.
Ironclaw is good aa hell

Apollo Creed isn't a real person so his movie wasn't a biopic about a niche hardly known real athlete.

Makes no sense to compare Creed movies to the 1s op is about.
