Humans/animals are more interesting than people think. I do believe there is a forest or wood area that people in Japan go to off themselves, and this has more to do with people already contemplating suicide but failing to follow through. When the media starts talking about suicides, the number of deaths, etc..., other people start to find some solace in their want to kill themselves. It is known as suicide contagion or something like that.

had not heard of that before but it is very plausible considering the power of "social proofing"
looked it up and it seems that the specific media effect is referred to as Werther's effect

I've heard that story before but good for them. Suicide should never be an option. Life may get tough at times but you just gotta keep fighting. Nobody wants to suffer. You never know who could be close to suicide so best to treat everyone right.
