They are but the team is still thin. If getting to the finals or taking the next steps requires more good players on the roster then the Knicks got to reshuffle the books.

It’s why I think it’s clear KAT is the odd man out, he makes too much, there have been signs they don’t get along on the court. Even though KAT is the most talented scorer on the team. He doesn’t act like it and demand the fukking ball.

I agree. I just don't know if they should move KAT for a star or if they should trade for quantity and fortify the bench

I just don’t think this roster is as thin as yall are making it seem. Precious is just as good as Toppin. Thibs just gotta trust guys throughout the season so we’re not throwing guys that haven’t really played together in the ECF.

Wright, Deuce, Shamet have proven capable.

Not sure how it could work but this team is missing Donte in the worst way. If we could trade for him back I think we’re in a better position.
Bolded: nah.

and you're not getting DDV back until he's a free agent.

I like Deuce and Wright.

Shamet is terrible and has been going on two seasons now.

I wish we had any of IQ/Toppin/Grimes/I-Hart :mjcry:

If you swapped Precious for Toppin, he’d be playing 12 mins a game in Indy and Obi would be on the Knicks bench getting DNPs.
Obi is averaging about as many minutes for the Pacers as he did for us in the playoffs.

The wolves in a strange spot and got to pay potentially pay Randle, NAW, and Naz Reid even if they trade for KD, they still gonna want pay NAW and Reid.

So I think DDV will be out there to get, but the Knicks salary cap ain’t right to go get him.

Only move is a precious sign and trade? Unless you throw in a pick, why would they do that.

DDV makes $24 mil in the next 2 years. His deal doesn't impact their books any more than Conley's.

Randle opting out solves all of their problems.

KD isn't an option whatsoever for them. If managing salaries is an issue for them, trading for a guy who's gonna want $110 over the next 2 years probably isn't the way to go. NAW's a goner no matter what, but they made contingency plans for him already.

Why would Randle opt out? The only team other than the Wolves that can pay him is Brooklyn and I don’t see them doing that? His best chance to get paid is the suns go full idiot and S&T for him for KD.

He much more likely to either do the extension with the wolves or opt in. There isn’t any money other there to pay him except for Brooklyn.

if he stays, then it gets a bit dicier to keep Naz and NAW wouldn't be in the cards at all.

Either way, DDV doesn't impact their ability to stay under the 2nd apron. He's on a bargain compared to even what NAW would get in free agency.

We’re just going to have to disagree. I think they keep Reid and NAW and see if they can find someone to take DDV cause while Conley is older, he is also the vet on a team with a lot of knuckle heads.

Anyhow even hypothetically DDV ain’t fixing the defensive issue between KAT and Brunson. It’s what it is, but that duo do not mesh well defensively.
