How can one make a "football move" in the air? Megatron made more of football move by diving and extending for the goal line. The twist & reach interpreted as a football move? That's the only difference I see.
Only difference was Cruz's elbow was on the ground while the ball crossed the line similar to a running back after the ball cross the line then if it's lost it doesn't matter.![]()
He landed, then twisted and reached for the endzone. When he caught the ball, his back was to the endzone. He had to turn & reach. I can see them interpreting that as a football move. At least that's the only difference I see in the 2 plays. How can one make a "football move" in the air? Megatron made more of football move by diving and extending for the goal line.
Now that Harlem said that, I'd add that to the differences. The elbow is a 3rd body part to touch the ground, before he reached out and loss control. So you have 2 feet, a twist, an elbow hitting, then the reach & loss of control. His elbow doesn't matter. He was on the way to the ground whilst making the catch. He is supposed to maintain possession throughout.
It would only be similar to a running back if he made a "football move" before heading towards the ground

On Johnson's play, after the 2 feet, the next thing to hit the ground was the ball and he immediately lost it.
Definitely differences between the plays.
Watched it again. You're right.Cruz doesn't have two feet, he has one foot.
Going to the ground in the process of making a catch... the process is possession and 2 feet. If you make a "football move", say a spin for example, then cross the goal line and lose the ball, that would be considered a touchdown. But, again, that's irrelevant: if you're going to the ground while making a catch then you must maintain possession throughout.
This is true at the goal line, at the side line, or in the middle of the field.
Edit: and I'm not sure what rule you're referencing by even arguing three body parts hit the ground with Cruz....what difference does that make?
