They would get wrapped up in a weekend

There are cartels that are run by former US special forces, and they have recruited alot of former special forces trained personel, as well as special ops mercs from latin America,

It's not Juan from a small border town running those operations. US could easily lose this "war".

Right now under Trump orders they are training Mexicans to combat cartels but I'm wondering how many of them will be recruited after training

Right now, Mexican Marines and Army units, likely with US assets intelligence is close to capturing Ivan Guzman Salazar. That could happen at any minute in Culiacan. That will quiet things down a little. If the US went into Culiacan, like Black Hawk Down, it would be bloody. They might wipe out a SEAL team. They are fighting way outside their terrain, it's like Afghanistan, the mountains, and then the urban areas. They have sophisticated surveillance, and at least 1,000 gunmen, maybe as many as 2500 or 3,000. probably at last 100 that are higher level. No one wants that happen, on any side. For the US, it's horrible PR, which they will want revenge.

Two: I was just in Jalisco, in the sierras. It was New Years Eve, wedding reception, and around 12, the mountains erupted in gunfire. .50 Cal's, AK, AR's, just dozens of people firing guns until the early morning hours. From my mountain hotel party, it was all around us. All the bosses and gunmen were drunk and high, firing off into the night. It was wild.

The guys in Jalisco will not be easy to take out. They are heavily armed, and have whole sections of the state locked down. The mountains are hard to access. One way in, one way out. They have lookouts for miles and miles. They can have the highways blocked off, and 40 truck convoys in an hours notice. They could easily wipe out a Special Forces team.

Majority of those types are locked up or dead
They done had plenty of tactical practice over the decades breh......all them bodies piled up......not to mention the newer generations of dudes the US deported instead of naturalizing and the information stays up to date.........it would have to be another war to get it done against them, if they send a minimal force on some arrogant shyt, it's gone be another stain on the nation

US special forces have never had to go up against trained and well funded opposition with modern weapons and technology....

you just have to look how many losses took against goat herders who spent their life sleeping on dirt to know that this isnt going to be a walk in the park

"winning" involves alot of dead Delta's and Seals...

this isnt an action movie...

the cartels have local intelligence networks, civilian cover, and decades of opsec practice....

A lot of the elite Mexican units are on the same level as the US special forces. They trained them.

When Mexican Marines went to pick up Mencho aka El Senor de Los Gallos in 2015, they dropped two helicopters with RPG's/anti tank weapons on a remote ranch in Jalisco. They then shut down the major highways, burned about 30 -40 gas stations, OXXO stores torched semi trucks on the main roads, and paralyzed the state for at least a day or two.

They say he would rather buy weapons than pay bribes and he's not going out captured.
