What type of third option scores 35 points per game in playoff rounds :mjlol:
There is some truth to that post and you can make the argument that he would be the 3rd option behind Mobley and Garland. Notice I say Mobley as that teams long term trajectory will be based on how good he becomes and adding Mitchell to the list isn't going to change that.

The greenlight just isn't going to be there in Cleveland as much as it was in Utah with him being the #1 offensive option there.

Donovan will definitely be leading the team in field goal attempts and be the go to guy down the stretch. He's the #1 until proven otherwise on the court

I really don't understand why the Jazz made this deal instead of taking the Knicks offer. These guys on the Cavs are gonna be in their late 20s, early 30s by the time the final picks convey. They most likely won't have much value.

I would have much rather bet on the Knicks being garbage 5+ years in the future than Cleveland. RJ is better than any of the players they got too.

Really doesn't make any sense.

I was more so speaking long term with that comment as they will go further long term with Mobley as their best player than Mitchell as he has the higher ceiling. This season should all about giving him as much touches as they can to help improve his offensive game. This most recent playoffs should have shown people all the offense in the world doesn't mean shyt when you can't play elite defense when it matters most and that's why Mitchell can't be your best player.

Colin Sexton and Markannen on a bad team are going to put up numbers. They will eventually be flipped for assets in the upcoming years.

I’ll be shocked if Sexton or Lauri are still on the Jazz in 2 years

And the gap between them and RJ isn’t that big, if there’s even a gap at all. He’s your run of the mill empty stats inefficient volume scoring wing

To be honest the more I think about it I don't think the Jazz thought it was a superior offer either
They wanted 3 unprotected picks from the Knicks along with RJ. The Knicks said no and eventually extended RJ which basically made a trade with the Jazz impossible at that point
There's definitely a reason why the Cavs deal (who were reported to be completely out of the race like days earlier) got accepted after negotiations with the Knicks ended and were not ongoing

What value do those two have? Anybody could have offer sheeted Sexton. Dude signed for 4/$72 million; that's an easy deal to beat and nobody bothered.

Markkanen, please. Even the original true believer @Brozay is off that ship. :mjlol:

I'm not a big Barrett guy but I'd take a chance on him over the other two. There's a path to him being a really good player; Sexton and Mark are who they are, imo.

Those Cavs picks don't have any upside though. It's like the Jrue trade to the Bucks. Sure, the Pels got a bunch of picks for Jrue, but the Bucks are gonna be near the top of the league as long as Giannis is there so they're all gonna be late 20s at best.

The Cavs have a core locked in through 2026 of guys 26 and younger. Garland and Mobley are 21/22. What is the path to those picks being worth anything besides a catastrophic Mobley injury, assuming he is what everyone hypes him to be?

I don’t really see it

RJ’s entering year 4 and what’s he above average at? Maybe defense? He’s either average or below average as a shooter, finisher, passer, ball handler and rebounder

None of the players involved are moving the needle.

I agree that on paper the Knicks picks seem more likely to return higher value

Mitchell will be the leading scorer on the Cavs.

My Pops Forever RIP
Picks are overrated what would they gain keeping those picks. The average NBA draft pick ain’t shyt. The league is too deep and talented to just be sitting back everyone tryna get better at any cost and the game is better for it.
Nobody kept this energy when Ainge made his previous deal.

The reasons why some people panic about these multiple pick deals is because deep down they think the team will fail and don't wanna risk the embarrassment of another team picking high with a selection they had and because they think a better player will somehow be available later and you don't wanna spend your assets too soon. Like, you don't wanna trade essentially 4 firsts for Donovan if we find out 2 months later that LaMelo wants out or all of a sudden Scottie Barnes becomes disgruntled and he scrubs off all his Raptors posts off IG or Luka likes posts shytting on Mark Cuban. It's the idea that something better will be there AND the belief that what you have can't be turned down.

and then there's those guys who see you don't have a pick and think they can predict the next Giannis or Draymond or Manu every year as if they come around every year. The NBA is the weird league where a generational player comes around annually.
