the Clippers are prob never gonna compete for a title with this core but the Lakers are waaasy further than them. They have a 36 year old ball hog coming off 2 season ending injuries as their team leader, he is surrounded by the worst defensive rotation in the league and their coach doesn't understand the concept of why threes are more efficient than long midrange jumpers. The one bright spot on their roster is last year's lottery pick, however he already has had several knee surgeries and may never play a full season. Meanwhile, IN this year's draft, if 2 teams pass them in the lottery they are gonna lose their pick to the Sixers. As bad as things are for the Clippers, they are much much worse for the Lakers. Don't bring up history either because we're talking about the future. At least Psul , Griffin and DJ are assets. What assets do the Lakers have? Their name? No one cares about that since Dr. Buds died and his retarded son took over
Why are we talking just next season? Kobe will be on his retirement tour next year and after next year he and his $25 million are off the books, he's not a factor for the Lakers going forward. It's not like he's signed to 2018. They have max money this year and an 87% chance to keep their pick, they're more likely to move up than lose it. Their situation isn't nearly as dire as what you typed, you probably wish it were since you're a Clippers fan, or were at least.
Their lottery pick was Randle and he's never had a knee surgery, he broke his leg. And even he isn't their brightest spot, Jordan Clarkson is.
A lot rides on this offseason on how quick of a rebuild they have. They hit on this lotto pick, make a couple smart signings, develop Clarkson & Randle, along with the $25 mil they have in play next offseason and the Lakers are back in business. Lot of ifs, but it's up to Jimmy & Mitch to pull it off.
Whereas when you look at the Clippers, they'll have close to 70% of their cap tied into 3 players and that's with me including the rising cap.
So now I know you're a Clippers fan but try your hardest to be objective here. Which scenario looks more favorable going forward, a young team with two lottery picks, a budding SG, and cap space out the ass & desirable location, or the fukking Clippers.
