On the internet, anytime something is really popular or gaining attention, a contrarian sub culture forms to soak up the engagement from the opposite view.

This is the internet. Instead of focusing on what you like, people take what someone else likes and does dissertations on subjects they claim to not like or care about.

Nowhere in life do people focus on things they do not like or care about more than on the internet. It’s an unnatural instinct to contrarianism created by the incessant need for engagement.

People that are not interesting or engaging have found a new life in just disagreeing with the masses as a personality trait. It’s annoying.
But the Clipse aren’t really popular though. Their last 2 albums bombed in real time. I don’t even think Lord Wilin is certified plat correct me if I’m wrong.

Does it matter if you are on a message board talking about them?

Does only your perception of their popularity matter?

Where do you think the demand for an album is coming from?

Did you read anything I wrote before quoting me?

Ehh, I can somewhat get that POV

Then again though, are they even that highly rated? Lol. Maybe amongst like the nerds/backpack sect of rap heads…which is a huge sect I guess so point taken…but still, most people you ask won’t name them in any Top 10 Rap Groups Ever list

Was gonna say this. There's this subset of tri-state dudes from a certain age bracket that's extra weird about Clipse. They jock tri-state artists that made music in the same lane and it bother them that Clipse was critical darlings for a minute and got a more enduring cult following.

If Clipse are overrated it's by a very small group. Lord Willin they had a couple tracks that was big in real time and it sold well. Since then they been more of a niche group. They and Pusha specifically may get outsized props in comparison to their mainstream visibility from some of the hipster hypebeast crowd. As a result of making a weirder, artsier version of your standard coke rap with Pharrell and Kanye. But if they was from Harlem, this wouldn't bother most these detractors.
It’s that NY rap fans would rather listen to the albums and rappers that clipse dikk ride/bite then the clipse themselves. Like We just gonna listen to Reasonable doubt or Cuban Linx instead of Pusha T pretending to be Jay Z or Raekwon. It’s not like the south loved them either lol.

Me talking about them on a message board makes them popular in a vacuum? We talk about a lot of rappers who flop.

You don’t like them and you are trying to intellectualize your opinion of them. I think everything that is happening speaks for itself but here we are discussing relevance.

Why do you think all of this is occurring? You’re just gaslighting and rewriting history to make a point you don’t like them. The moment is speaking for itself but you are bending over backwards to question it.

There is a direct correlation with the anticipation of this album and this Doggie Diamonds opinion of the Clipse because the Clipse are currently being talked about.

He's using the discussions being had about them right now to create engagement content.

Which was @Roxx the King point.

No matter how mainstream popular any form of art/entertainment there is always a critically acclaimed section of it.

And with today's Internet, people know that simply disagreeing with critically acclaimed art will always create engagement.

The clipse aren’t popular enough for people to people to lie about not liking them for “contrarian” purposes. :dead:. It’s not like let’s say Jay Z.

Where have I rewrote history? Did Till the casket drop bomb in real time on a major label or nah?

When Clipse was a factor, New York was propping up a bunch of average rappers with a fraction of their lyrical and technical skills rapping about the same subject matter. So this point don't hold up.

Not a coincidence Dip Set stans tend to be some of the biggest Clipse haters.
