If Clipse were from NY they would not be labeled overrated.

The Lox have no classic albums as a collective or solo artists but Clipse are overrated :mjpls:

Lox and Clipse dont belong in the same breath. I personally dont think either of them has a classic album but the Lox have been apart so many more historic/classic records it aint even fair.

Who is yall? You confusing me fam.
Who is in here that doesn't know The Lox is 3 people?

You said that as if people are in here saying "The Duo of The Lox"

Just because the comparison is being made doesn't mean anyone is under the impression that there's only 2.

If the Clipse weren't besties with Pharrell they'd be Smilez and Southstar status

You could use the same logic to invalidate Snoop, BIG, Eminem and 50 careers among many others, but the artist got to have something going for em or it's not working.

Neptunes and Pharrell tried to break a bunch of artists, Clipse and Kelis was the only ones with any success.

You just yapping now. Like I said you got me confused bc I’m not talking about whatever you talking about

Edit: oh you was the one talking about Lox in a thread about duos. Got it :mjlol:

if anything I feel like they're underrated. If anything they've super overperformed considering they don't have a super diverse subject matter. They've got a classic, a near-classic, and their 3rd album is solid. They only have a couple of songs that aren't good which is more than most groups can say.

You can't take the lemons out of the lemonade bro.

If MJ didn't have Pippen he wouldn't have won 6.

If Michael didn't have Quincy Jones he wouldn't have made Thriller.

But they did and they did.

And let's also not act like Push doesn't have a solid solo catalogue as well, and most of it is without Pharrell.

Dead ass, why is Clipse thought of so highly? Somebody break it down. Because Lord Willing and Grindin was a long time ago
That's not even their classic album. Hell Hath No Fury is their true classic.

They were only a group for like 7 years and then went on hiatus. They only have 3 albums but 1 is classic and 1 is near classic. And their mixtapes are classic as well.

Many groups barely have 1 good album at all.

But the Clipse aren’t really popular though. Their last 2 albums bombed in real time. I don’t even think Lord Wilin is certified plat correct me if I’m wrong.
Lord Willin is platinum.

Hell Hath might've gone gold but was definitely a commercial disappointment, despite being considered one of the best albums of that decade critically. It's probably Gold by now but wasn't Gold after its immediate few years. The 3rd album super flopped.

The music is fire, though.

Ehh, I can somewhat get that POV

Then again though, are they even that highly rated? Lol. Maybe amongst like the nerds/backpack sect of rap heads…which is a huge sect I guess so point taken…but still, most people you ask won’t name them in any Top 10 Rap Groups Ever list
Time has been super good to Clipse. People look back and appreciate their catalogue more now than they did in the 2000's. Push's solo career, Daytona album, his feud with Drake, and the It's Almost Dry album all made people look back at Clipse music as being a little bit bigger than it was. And Malice taking a break from raps for spiritual reasons seemed very principled, and him coming back also feels like a big deal.

It's sort of a reinvention of history to act like they're this giant duo making a return...but at the same time, it is a big deal for the culture that they're back, and it is a pretty big hiphop moment even though they never sold a ton of records after their first album.
