• Guardians of The Galaxy

• Rhythm

• Multiplayer shooters/fighters/sports as usual

I only played JRPG's this year

Favorites were:

• Ys Viii
• Tales of Beseria
• Trails in Sky 3rd
• Trails from Zero
• Trails to Azure

Disappointments:

• Trails of Cold Steel 3.
• Trails of Cold Steel 4
• Persona 5 Royal (Kind of expected 10/10 type of game. Still good tho)

Surprises:

• Valkyria Chronicles
• Code Vein (People said it was trash, so wasn't expecting much going in)
• Atelier Ryza 1

Going to start clearing my backlog of games that were released this year once I am caught up with Trails. Metroid will be a nice cleanser since I have been playing nothing but RPG's since September of 2020.

My favorite games were Monster Hunter Rise, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, and Psychonauts 2


Playing through the entire Yakuza Series was highlight for me as well


The Ascent was my surprise hit of the year. I never really played twin stick shooters like that but I really enjoyed that game

Highlights for me this year as far as enjoyment were:

Ratchet & Clank
Miles Morales
Cyberpunk
Halo Infinite
Metroid Dread
Fortnite
Demons Souls
Resident Evil 8
Returnal
Ghost of Tsushima

Biggest disappointment was NBA 2K

If I had to pick a game of the year I would have to give it to warzone off the strength of the absurd amount of hours I put into it although I can’t stand caldera. Halo Infinite is quickly taking its place in my daily rotation.

This year I enjoyed dark souls 3, borderlands 3 and last of us 2. I took most of the year off from gaming until October. So no GOTY for me. I just got all the next gen systems so next year I will be able to have a goty.

too many questions but my surprises/sleeper games this year were—

• hitman 3
• the ascent
• psychonauts 2
• F.I.S.T.
• guardians of the galaxy

none of these games were on my radar and in quite a few instances I wrote them off as games I wouldn’t be playing…all were enjoyable tho with psychonauts 2 being my personal GOTY

What were your disappointments?

Truthfully, for games this year, no. I didn't get anything and was like damn, I got screwed.

What were your surprises.

Halo Infinite - I've never gone into a Halo with the blinders on as much as this Halo. I simply wanted 343 to surprise me. The world that they've created is amazing. The game just feels and controls right. Very few games I can say that for.

Shooty Skies Overdrive: A VR wave shooter. I literally bought this because of the price. I be getting my Neo in the Matrix on with this.

As they move to mobile, I buy a lot of digital tabletop games now. They are largely involving and very good. Visual novels are also another.
