ok that makes sense, because in order to get the spiral, you have to leave the shutter WIDE open, and the lights in the city should be EXTREMELY bright that way. He cheated, he should be in last place. 9 is actually a very good shot despite not being clear. The colors are ambient and soothing.
In your photo, I wish the truck doors weren't rippled, if they were flat sheet, and showed the reflection of the city clearly, you'd have stomped all but 10 cleanly.
8 looks like something I would take. but I would brighten the sky to look more heavenly, emotional and attention grabbing.

My pic was the tilt shift/long exposure shot. And about shooting at night, You kind of want to keep your shutter as closed as possible. The higher your F number the shaper the pics.........but also the longer it will take to let enough light in. At the same time you cant keep the shutter open too long, youll get light trails due to the rotation of the earth. Its all about finding that right balance, most people try HDR.
Its pretty much impossible to see stars like that in the city though due to all the pollution.

the one with the street car is in 4th. it really is a good picture. it caught my eye and took me back to a rainy day. it did what photos are supposed to do. trigger either emotion, attention retention or memory.
