how can the bots/guests be limited?

Site admin has to implement measures to rate limit irregular requests, set data limits, etc. Stuff along those lines.

Happened to a health forum I was a part of. A group that got banned tried to scrape site data to copy the site and start their own. The activity woke admin up out his sleep and he put the clamps on. Now there's DDoS checkers every now and then if you refresh too much too fast.

But of course, you need an active admin
