For the freaks :mjpls: If you don't get why I'm posting this in here, just know that sex and meditation are one in the same mentally. They are both about your energy and life source. This article deals with the importance of conserving your "energy"

this bruce lee quote is pretty good. about meditation

"Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend".

I'm trying to tap into the spiritual part of myself a bit more. Starting with meditation and hopefully yoga in the not-too-distant future.

This entire thing kicked off in my mind when I saw Russell Simmons at the Breakfast Club earlier this year. The passion and enthusiasm he showed when he spoke about meditation genuinely made me fukk with it. I read his book and I'm going to attempt to start practicing pretty soon.

Who else fukking with this shyt?

I do about 15-20 minutes every night. 3 months in. It's tough in the beginning because your mind won't stop racing but it gets better after a few weeks. They say you have to stay persistent and consistent 6-9 months to receive any real benefits tho

Sit there chill and do nothing. Let my body breathe on its own Let thoughts come and go. Let my mind fight and wander through all the stimuli it picked up. After awhile you relax and you go blank and your back on "your own time".

If I'm really good I'm in absolute darkness starting at a wall letting my mind see what it sees.

Try the headspace app. You get a free 10 day trial.
Meditation and Mindfulness make sense when you think about. I mean you spend all day with your mind working over time, thoughts, ideas, worries, plans etc etc. Even when your chilling you're probably thinking about something.
With mediation you get to clear you mind and even if you do have thoughts the idea is to watch them but never engage them. Kind of like watching traffic, you lets the thoughts go by one after the other without them affecting you.

Thanks for the uppage bro!

Meditation can be extremely life changing.

FOCUSING your energy on something in general can be life changing.

Meditation teaches you to focus.

Some times I don't even have to be on the mat. Just being able to have that mental focus and dedication to introspection, makes time pass so much differently.

Damn I missed this, Cool thread. I've been interested in meditation and Buddhist philosophy ever since I was a teen. Lately, there's been tons of research validating the efficacy of meditative practices, notably it's effects on the brain and it's ability to facilitate states of calmness, tranquility, creativity, and a general sense of well being. The great thing about it is that you can separate technique from the philosophical doctrine it's rooted in and still reap cognitive benefits from it.

http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2011/01/eight-weeks-to-a-better-brain/

"Meditation group participants reported spending an average of 27 minutes each day practicing mindfulness exercises, and their responses to a mindfulness questionnaire indicated significant improvements compared with pre-participation responses. The analysis of MR images, which focused on areas where meditation-associated differences were seen in earlier studies, found increased gray-matter density in the hippocampus, known to be important for learning and memory, and in structures associated with self-awareness, compassion, and introspection.

Participant-reported reductions in stress also were correlated with decreased gray-matter density in the amygdala, which is known to play an important role in anxiety and stress. Although no change was seen in a self-awareness-associated structure called the insula, which had been identified in earlier studies, the authors suggest that longer-term meditation practice might be needed to produce changes in that area. None of these changes were seen in the control group, indicating that they had not resulted merely from the passage of time."

Magic mushrooms change the same part of the brain that meditation does. Coincidence? I think not.

I meditated on magic mushrooms and had an experience with an entity that had literal healing hands. This entity was massaging my brain/head like it was clearing my head of all the clutter and bad things. While it was doing this I experienced the greatest euphoria Ive ever felt in my life. All I could do was laugh hysterically at how insignificant everything seemed compared to this deity. Nothing since has came close to it. This would only happen when I closed my eyes and meditated. As soon as I opened them it stopped. That was the best part the trip. I ended up having a bad trip after that but I still remember that experience as the only time I felt true bliss that material objects just cant give to you. I dont know if that deity with the healing hands was God or the spirit of the mushroom but it was something. Incredible experience. Ive never told anybody in real life about this.
