True, but, they had to remake The Color Purple in this climate.
I would ask to remake a more positive black movie like Boomerang...but, Eddie's character prolly would be trying to get at Lady Eloise and ignoring Robin Givens.

Everyone that's celebrating this movie for doing bad numbers are also going to conveniently claim to have seen it.
I'm not celebrating it doing bad but I did go see it. My mom and my girl are both AKAs and their chapter in Birmingham rented out 2 screens for the movie for like 4 showings. That's how I went. shyt was terrible, didn't compare to the original in the slightest. Some people there were saying it was great, some people were disappointed. Some people there probably also think Madea and Tubi is peak cinema and that's who it felt like this movie was made for.

Movie companies are gonna find it that much tougher now to convince Black people to go to theaters to watch movies.

It's really weird. I heard for years how the original was anti-man then I watched it and it was how one black man was abusive, and he even regretted how he behaved by the end. The amount of insecurity online about it is embarrassing. As if there werent a ton of abusive men in the community especially back then. Telling one woman's story is suddenly off limitsNot sure where all the anti black men or propaganda comments are coming from. Damm you do have to have some villains in the movie for drama. And yes sometimes they are gonna be black men.
I talked to several people who LOVED the original and when they found out this was gonna be a musical they were like
