black cinema still doing the same ol, same ol since the 90s.

i thought Get Out's and Black Panther's success would inspire and new generation of black film makers to expand into other film genres, Horror, sci fi, fantasy, etc.

yet here we are in 2023 still and most of our black casted films are still in the same settings Tyler perry or Oprah would generally place them in.

How different is Get Out and Black Panther from Stir Crazy and Shaft, same themes. You won't see Black films be unique and innovative in the mainstream.

i listed a horror movie and a scifi movie, saying i hoped they would inspire more horror and scifi and you just compared them to two movies that arent horror or scifi:dead:

I said themes, which was the entire point. Get Out is very obviously a comedy/thriller, it prioritizes being funny over being scary, other than the setting Black Panther doesn't have anything to say science fiction-wise, it's an action film with a blaxploitation bent.

I don't know why you're giving these films so much credit because they're popular, all they did was inspire clones like Antebellum and Ma:heh:

The post you quoted was clearly about moving to other genres, if you disagree those are other genres you should’ve just said that. Instead you provided examples of movies in the same genres. So either way you are wrong
