Good thread
3 years ago got a car with 16% rate, credit score mid 500s and
1 credit card.
Started rebuilding, paying everything on time, disputed a bunch of shyt on my cr and most of it fell off.
As of today new car rate is 4.5% , opened a few Amex cards, and a chase card.
The only issue is that I got a 2 year old collection for 800. It's actually way older but I'm assuming they re-aged the account when I disputed it. Idk if I should settle and pay for delete or what, but I want it removed . My TU score today is 680 and eqifax 686 according to credit karma

This question is always unclear: is better to leave a small balance on a credit card and pay it off the next month, rinse and repeat every 1-2 months, or always pay off said credit card in full every month?

Any reason to have a credit card from all of the big 4 (Visa/Mastercard/Discover/American Express)?

Paid off a closed credit card and a bill collections this month but both of them haven't been reported yet by collections.

After I pay off another closed credit card this month (yeah, I know, long story) I'll have only an old credit card from Chase that's been closed since 2009.

I wanna apply for that amex everyday card but I'm not sure whether or not I should hold off for a while till those collections fall off my credit history. :lupe:

I'm trying to lease a condo

yeah but I was reading that there's these cards or methods of transferring debt off of multiple cards to just one. wasnt sure if that applied to b&m credit cards

You can do a balance transfer to a single card with a lower apr if you're in the position to qualify for one. I don't think store cards have that restrictions.

2 deliquencys on my account from unpaid red light camera parking tickets

went into collections in 2012

theyre garnishing my state income tax to go towards it

what can i do to remove off CR?

also, just financed a vehicle and there's 4 bank inquiries on my CR for the dealership to get me the best interest rate

do the inquiries hurt me?

how can i get them removed?

For the tickets I'd say try to negotiate a pay for delete with the collection agencies, but with the garnishment I don't see any leverage you have with them since they already got the judgment against you......not sure on this one

As far as the auto loan. The impact from multiple inquiries that happened within 30 days only count as 1 pull. It'll only affect your score for 1year. Then fall off the next.

Once something goes to 3rd party collections only way the situation can benefit you, score wise, is if you

Have it recalled by the original creditor and pay them.
Negotiate a pay for delete.

The other options of settling, or paying the account in full to the collection agency. only benefit the appearance of your CR, but not your score.

That credit utilization is no joke.

I maintained a 7% utilization percentage. Two accounts my parents had in my name closed. The accounts were around $20,000 together. Now my percentage is at 20%. My score dropped 15pts. Paid off the cards to have a balance of $300 on both credit cards. Credit score went up 20pts. Utilization is around 4%. In my mind I have to get close to that line of credit I had before the accounts closed. A) I'm going on vacation and B) I deserved an increased. I hadn't received one for 3 years. I thought it was random but I learned I could ask for a CLI. I didn't want to apply for a discover card or any other card, I asked for a credit line increase told them discover had pre-approved me for xyz. Chase and Amex matched with no issue. I put the vacation on my amex card, my utilization is at 10% received an increase of 8 pts.

Thanks bro
I tried with the OC and the collections and both will accept payment but neither will delete

For me personally its doesn't matter if I carried a balance or not. I had cards/accounts that weren't in use for two or three years. Then did a random swipe for 20$. Never had any effects on my score.

I dont see a reason to have all four. I only have Visa and Amex, I don't want to make my credit history younger. After my account I had with my parents closed, my history is only 3-6 years old.
