He's been sounding like the old man in the club since he came back from retirement, but no one minded it because he kept the quotables coming. The quotables ain't flowing like that on this album. THIS shyt LIGHT

I heard the whole verse. It still doesn't save that line. That line's just as bad as Ye's sweet and sour sauce line from I'm In It.

You listen to Jay-z's music specifically for quotables? You do realize that you looking for 'owwwwwww' lines is taking away from your ability to see what hes saying in a verse right?

I don't really want to get into the fact that the album has been out for 2 full days and you are already under this assumption no one will quote Jay-z lines off this album....

Except half the Internet seems to be disagreeing with you if you were to go on Twitter.

I said there weren't enough quotables. People quoting that Miley line only because Jay-Z of all people made a Miley Cyrus reference. Not because the line's dope.

And half the internet disagreeing with me means that half the internet agrees with me. :yeshrug:

because it doesn't stand up when thought about critically aside from a few cuts

it's poorly written, most of the production has a nice sheen over it but its pretty universally lackluster

people who think critically about music, not paid critics or writers or anything like that, but people who really think critically about this, I don't know how they could really enjoy the album that much. it's mediocre

:dafukk: Go somewhere.

Music is entertainment.

Stop trying to sound astute talking about listen to music critically.

Which really means I listen to music with my nose up in the air and compare it to music I really like.

nikka theres a difference between hating and pointing out facts, you dumb ass sheep nigggas would be in the fields talking about why they hating on massa, jayz is the modern day house negro, they let him hang around with his few millions cause he entertains them and kisses their ass and us regular people are the modern day field slaves even middle class and poor cac are modern day slaves right now but on different scales. its not hating to point out someone stepping on your throat or calling you a peon cause you dont shuck and jive to make money for massa. foh all this hating shiiit was just something started by the elite to keep us down just like everything else in this world. wake up nikkas you supporting music that is shytting on you and you dancing to it.

cuz this shyt isn't better than Yeezus musically. Sure 'Ye doesn't rhyme ANY kinda way on it. It's a better body of MUSIC which is what we are talking about here.

I enjoy MCHG, hell i enjoy Jay putting out music period. But this was just another move for him and not about proving how dope of a MC he is. But anyone saying this is better than Born Sinner or Yeezus or hell even Summer Knights is stanning tough. The beats are the shining point in MCHG and Jay's rhymes are ho-hum outside of a few shining quotables. Jay's 5th Avenue raps aren't like Kanye's who uses them in a context to create at least SOME sort of discourse or to absurd effect. "Hurry up with my damn croissants" may be silly, but its meant to be and it says something more than "International bring back the Concorde" other than "fukk with me you know i got it".

I personally enjoy it...hell i'm listening to FUTW right now, but its one of the only tracks that i think could stand in Jay's discography. But even with all the negativity this isn't Vol 3. terrible or even Kingdom Come terrible, hell its still better than 90% of rappers out right now. It's just not up to the standard that he has built from himself.

Nether Yeezus nor MCHG are each respective artists best work, but nikkas need to stop shytting on the critics and other posters for having an divergent opinion from your own. If you like it you like it, stick to your guns and stop getting but hurt over other people analysis. Every time an album drops nikkas get on that "awww fukk the critics shyt" except for when they like some shyt you like then its "AWW nikka BUT ITS GOT 93 on Metacritic :stopitslime:

MCHG is a decent album for any other rapper, it just bad for Jay. Is it without merit? No. Is it garbage? No. Will it be the shining achievement everyone wanted it to be of course not. As it stands right now Cole has the best STRAIGHT rap album out. Followed by Tyler's WOLF which had the opposite effect of MCHG and everyone thought it would suck and it turned out to be amazing.

How many quotables is up to par for you? 8? 13? :smugfavre:

And half the internet disagreeing with you should point out that because you don't think any lines are quotable, doesn't mean others do not.

Just say 'Im not feeling the album' you don't need to make up arbitrary reasons.

The album is wack to me. People keep quibbling about the content but where I have a problem is with the execution. A HUGE part of what made Jay great was the killer flow. It wasn't only that he said fly shyt but HOW he said it. The flow on MCHG is flabby and sick, dear God is it ever.

And I'm not wowed by the beats like some of yall. Timbaland is washed up and I don't feel like there was anything else with real replay value. Bottom line I think it sucks and I'm disappointed. His worst work by far.

:heh: what kills me is when people shyt on MCHG for pedestrian lyrics and then big up born sinner. Cole came weak on that album name me the quotables or impressive lines because I been forcing myself to listen to that shyt since it came out and haven't found any. Either that or just admit you hold Cole to a way lower standard than you do Jay. and the beats on born sinner were amateur compared to mchg. I can see why people like born sinner but its ridiculous for you to think that anyone who prefers mchg is stanning

nikka said that trash Born SInner is better:pachaha::pachaha:

An album with an artist with no mic presence no sense of flow variation, shytty and uninteresting production is better than MCHG??...riight? :pachaha:

That one line invalidates ur whole post

I actually thought MCHG was better than the last 2 Ye albums, I don't get why critics love Ye so much.

MCHG had great beats and subpar lyrics just like a Ye album.:mindblown:
