What I like about this show is they can take benign occurrences like London being foggy for three weeks or getting a new Prime Minister and make an entire hour episode out of it and make it compelling. Still haven't finished season 3 yet.

I wonder what British people think of Gillian Anderson's accent? She sounds "off" to me, but I don't know enough to really judge.

The long and short of it is that Margaret Thatcher had an artificially designed speaking voice that Gillian Anderson attempts to copy. Whether or not she nailed it or failed it is up to you, but Thatcher certainly had a particular way of speaking that was neither nature nor unaffected.
