Another thing sorely missing from today's WWE landscape is that wildcard wrestler that you could put your top babyface in a feud with and have it make sense why he's feuding with them vs chasing a title. Wrestlers like:

Undertaker
Kane
Brock Lesnar
Bray Wyatt
Big Show
Triple H
Scott Steiner
Sid Vicious
Authority Figures like a Vince
etc.



I'd put Jacob and Braun in that category but HHH just chooses to book like a bytch. Neither guy has had a match vs a top level main eventer in over a year.

For everyone that celebrated the end of WM40 did they not realize that it was also the true end of the Vince regime? From that point forward anything good or bad was 100% HHH, and the only good things were Punk vs Drew and the Naomi heel turn. Roman feels like he's just pretending to be the tribal chief now, Bianca has been diminished(she really needs to stop kissing HHH's ass), Cody's reign was a flop, Gunther was a boring champ, all the belts except the women's US title(thanks to Chelsea) feel worthless, and the shows are a chore to sit through. This is why the IWC is so pissed at Rock, because he was to provide cover for their precious Papa H

• Roman just going through the motions because outside of Bloodline side quests & the Undisputed title, he prolly ain't interested in shyt.
• This one hurts; Bianca was out of the Main Event from November 2023 to March 2025 and lost some aura. She putting on clinics in the ring...but, that's it.
• Cody - Laveck don't know how to book week to week. He knows big splashes and "5 Star Matches." Cody's reign is the biggest indictment on his storytelling being overrated.
• Gunther - Laveck buried the World Championship at Crown Jewel and that was the end of Gunther's chapter. He seems to never main event anything and dudes with no titles were more important. He had better opponents than I remembered (Priest (3x), Randy, Sami, Jey (2x)) but the stories were lackluster. And we have a 666 day IC Title reign to measure against his 259 day World title reign.
• They should've retired the tag title and gave the women ONE mid-card title.
• I would give Laveck some grace on this (the ads & reviews & celebrities kill the show), but, he loves booking jobbers EVERY Monday/Friday going against other jobbers with zero storyline. LA Knight had the fourth most matches in the company in 2024...why? JD McNugget had more matches than Solo Sokoa, who was in the biggest story post Mania 40 last year...why? for a Tag Team title run?

The card for 'Backlash' is lookin kinda suspect to me. Orton/Cena will be a movie in St. Louis, I'm not sure about the actual match cause they were never great dance partners to begin with but the crowd will be insane. After that? They got 2 celebrity matches. Gunther is facing Pat McAfee and Jey Uso appears to be facing Logan Paul. That's atrocious for a PLE. Becky/Lyra could be solid but it's also been thrown together in about a week, out of nowhere.

These PLE's usually have 5 matches so it ain't lookin great, I don't know

Even though at times it may be booked like shyt, even though its wrong place/wrong time.. He gonna do it.. Papa H be letting muthafuggas get vacations after Clash of the Castle...

I don't know if it's because a majority of the PPVs have had weeks of build up to this point, going back to Survivor Series, but Backlash feels like it's being thrown together.

Part of it is because guys who should be on the show won't be (Cody, Punk, Roman). Another part is them getting rid of the rematch clause. In storyline, it makes no sense that Gunther wouldn't want a rematch for the WHC. Why is Jey wasting his time with Logan Paul when he should be trying to defend his title against the guy he beat for it? Why is Gunther having a match against a fukking commentator? Because he attacked him once? Pat couldn't even sell it, he was back on TV the next week.

Then the multi-man matches. It made sense at WrestleMania, but you can tell in the Triple H era, they can't book PPV matches with this amount of time. They also can't decide who the #1 contender should be, so they're just like "fukk it. Put them all in the match." If Drew's the #1 contender, shouldn't he face Jacob one-on-one? At least that's a match they haven't done it......I think. They could have had three weeks worth of fire segments between them.

I'll give Vince credit, he knew how to sell you a PPV in three weeks. And in the case of Backlash, a PPV like this has to continue stories from WrestleMania or end them. Literally nothing happening at this show is continuing anything outside of Lyra/Becky. If Vince was still in charge, Seth/Bron vs. Punk/Roman would already be booked, but we're not going to see that match until July at the earliest.

That's why you can't give him any grace, because those things aren't the reason the shows suck. RAW & SD don't suck because of ads on the mat or a random celeb, it sucks because the wrong people are being pushed and the storylines would only be interesting a decade ago in NXT. Like who is this for really?
