Like anything else, you have to filter out the bullshyt. I haven’t really felt misled by any game imo. Youtubers love to shyt on games just as much as they hype shyt up. Pretty easy to find genuine reviewers IMO
I don't listen to them either way but what I don't like is how their influence unfairly kills otherwise decent games. Forespoken is a perfect example of this.

I would just say that gaming influencers and competitive gamers have fccked up gaming as a whole

This is the thing that bothers me the most is the grifters with their culture war fakkitry. Mostly because it extends past gaming

are their sincere reviewers that shyt on corporate nonsense when need be... and still go viral?

or are they buried by the algorithms

It’s hard, because they might start sincere but once they gain notoriety they get sent free shyt and early releases. It’s impossible not to be bias once you get those first sponsors.

If there's any pushback of note it's on the tech hardware and/or corporate practices side of things. Gamers Nexus, Louis Rossmann, JerryrigEverything, the latest Honey fiasco, all of that is away from the gaming sphere.

Ironically enough, it's that same lack of professional standards in gaming journalism that's allowed a space for the reactionary anti-woke-everything crowd to metastasize into what it's become.

I agree with this if you want to use reviewers. Can't say I've paid attention to a reviewer since the ps3/360/wii generation. You should know what you like and if you are willing to try a different genre, then do a lot of reading in a variety of places to determine if it's for you. Once in a while, you may have to take a leap of faith. You will either be rewarded with your courage or burned by it.

The year 3030
interesting video...but I honestly haven't paid attention to reviews like that in years.

If I'm interested in a game I'll talk to homies, play the demo, etc.

The part of the vid that interested me most is how sega was giving out codes to non gaming channels...or how square enix got butt hurt and stopped giving codes

Somewhere tropic...
Dude, I cannot stand the state of gaming today
These fugazi "journalists" aka biased fanboys
40 year old trolls on Twitter
the rise of these incel fakkits that want to fukk the female characters
Everything is "woke" according to them
The big 3 has blame to receive too as greed has stifled creativity resulting in some baffling decisions
This industry is getting embarrassing

Been playing since it was on PS+ and yeah, it really didn't deserve the hate it got

Is it perfect? No

But it's not :trash:, far from

Hilarious this dude talks about ethics in game reviews, then uses Starfield as an example of people not being allowed to say anything negative in their early reviews of the game, when in real life almost all the press around the game was negative from the start. Pretty sure Bethesda didn't pay a bunch of influencers to shyt on what they hope to be a flagship game :pachaha:

I guess their are no ethics in making videos about the ethics of video game coverage and reviews on youtube.

And people have always been paid to say good stuff and/or not to say bad stuff about a game. "Gaming journalist" just upset it's not them getting the money now like they used to do when everything was print.

Maybe.. but, I don’t know, I think that’s just gaming culture in general. Very negative culture from what I see. The fans were shytting on Forspoken years before it came out. Never gave it a chance, and to my eyes, YouTubers were just feeding off that negative buzz to get views. They tried that shyt with TLOU2 as well, but that game couldn’t be denied, and the YouTubers for the most part followed. It’s probably goes both ways honestly.
