those parts were tedious to me
i still could tolerate them in part 1, but part 2 they were a chore!!
still absolutley loved both sonic games on dc!!!
Agreed....the game is still a personal classic but I really only liked playing with Sonic, Tails, and the robot.
Amy's levels were just meh (fortunately there were only a couple) and treasure hunting with Knuckles was kinda tedious. Let's not even mention being forced to play as Big the Cat...

the game had it's weird moments, but when it was on point - it had some of the best/memorable moments in gaming ever to me.
one thing sonic team always got right (since the sega mega days) is the first stage
i'll never forget playing the first stage of this game.
