The demand for the PS5 is way bigger than Sony anticipated

Back in 2013, PlayStation's then-CEO Andrew House said the PS4 had sold 2.1 million units in just over two weeks, declaring it "an impressive and record-setting accomplishment for our company and for our industry."

A few days later, PlayStation quoted analysts at DFC Intelligence, who confirmed the PS4 was the biggest launch in the history of games consoles.

Today's message from PlayStation indicates the industry has a new record holder.

"We want to thank gamers everywhere for making the PS5 launch our biggest console launch ever," the platform holder wrote.

"Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year -- please stay in touch with you local retailers."

PS5 launched almost two weeks ago on November 12th in North America, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and South Korea, arriving in all other major markets -- except China -- on November 19.

Sony expects its next-gen console to outperform its predecessor by the end of the current fiscal year. PS4 sold 7.6 million units during the comparable period.

Microsoft has also fared well, announced earlier this month that Series X and S were also the biggest launch in Xbox history.

This will continue throughout 2021 and eventually balance out until Ragnarok hits if it is
1) PS5 exclusive
2) has next gen graphics and NEXT GEN GAMEPLAY
Sony can sell 15-20+ mil PS5s by March if they wanted to but they are being limited by COVID and its affect on parts and transport
Sony's goal was 15 mil by March but they dropped it to 11 mil
That's 11 mil units in a span of 4 months
If they continue that pace the PS5 could sell 30+ mil in its first year
The PS5 has the potential to be the fastest highest selling system of all time

I look at my friends list and not many have a ps5. Which is shocking if u knew them. So that tells me how hard it is to get one at retail price

anyone w/ the right intuition could sense this launch would be unprecedented and historic
a system launching completely online during a pandemic that limits silicone parts and by sea transport?
people stuck inside and instead spending money they would be spending outside the house inside on things like netflix and video games?
playstation being more popular than ever before especially after the year it had this year?
a pandemic that's extending into 2021?
people laughed when I said the ps5 would be hard to get until 2022 if the pandemic lasts too long
if you had a chance to preorder and CHOSE not to

this launch is way better than the ps4 imo regarding games. I didn’t buy not one launch game. Also I purposely held off playing Ghost (a game that’s not even 6 months old) because I knew it would be better on PS5. So I got Demon Souls, MM & Ghost. I’m eating good over here

I can say with 100% confidence sony gonna keep us fed all of 2021 and a lot of nikkas that don’t have consoles now gonna be in their feelings
