:comeon: they had to have some general idea it was gonna get this crazy...

I think covid and everyone staying home supercharged it but the ps4 launch was similar I had to wait until the next year and the price drop happened to cop one...:picard:

COVID-19 caused the global supply of Switches, a 3 year old console, to dry up overnight. And it's still that way, 8 months later.

Sony's bullshytting. They absolutely saw this coming. Same with MS. This a supply-side constructed shortage to build hype, Nike-style.

Covid also affected supply chains all over. Plus, considering they're taking a loss on the intial consoles, I'm sure they're not going to want to over do the supply amount. Be easy, fool.

I'll give you the supply chain issues; things got a lot tighter for Foxconn. But selling at a loss is something they make up for pretty quickly on their high profit margin items like first party titles and controllers. Spider-man: Miles Morales didn't exactly have TLOU2's dev time or price tag.

The hard truth is that these launches are tight on purpose. It's been this way since the N64.

There's some tightness strategy to it for sure, but they're pumping out 11 mill consoles in less than 6 months. That's an absurd amount as is.
