I honestly doubt that it would be effective to allow abortions in cases of rape while otherwise banning it. With the amount of doubt and suspicion that women currently get when they report rape, I can already picture women being told that they're lying about the rape just to get an abortion. Especially if it was a date rape case, the same people pushing for the ban will be asking women to prove they were raped before they are allowed to abort.
No doubt the bold will happen to some extent- accurately or inaccurately (That is to say, I could see some women lying). Nothing is perfect. However, the overwhelming majority of abortions are not due to rape. Less babies killed in the womb and a relatively small amount of women giving birth to here rapists baby- which is also terrible, is better than what we have now. IMO.
