I didn't manage to catch all of the defence's opening statement but what is the obsession with referring to supposed pre-existing heart issues? Unless I'm interpreting this whole thing wrong, are they trying to claim that cause of death was from something other than the officer's knee on George's neck?
Anyway, in the UK, we have something called the 'thin skull' rule, where you ought to take the victim as you find him. In other words, if he has pre-existing conditions that makes him more likely to die in a certain predicament than the average person, that does NOT absolve the perpetrator from escaping justice. You should have "known" he had that condition.
