The descendants of 8-20K Confederates still celebrate the Civil War in Brazil

I remember some conservative commentator once saying we should go easy on Confederate heritage types since they were the only Americans "who ever experienced total defeat in a war".

I was like

Blacks and Native Americans would like a word with you

I think they meant what they said. It's actually sad that the people living here first, as well as the people that built the US, must plead to be seen as Americans.

The article states they bought hundreds and bragged in letters to Southern newspapers back home about how "cheap" Black slaves were in Brazil.

The fact that they can wave their flag as traitors to the US is baffling. Most of their statues were erected in the US in the 20th century. The US govt loves to remind black ppl we are worthless.
