Been thinking about my life from a teenager to early 30's.

I looked up to AI because of the platinum.
I looked up to Jay because he was living the dream, NBA money but not in the NBA.

I wanted to be like Jay-Z I wanted to be rich not famous but just rich.

I've been bombarded with hip hop that told me being rich is what I should be and that getting money was easy.

Now I gotta decide what's important for the rest of my life and I've pretty much decided to let go of that dream of being rich because it brought me no peace.

As of right now I don't give a fukk about being rich or what it would bring because I see first hand that not even being rich can make you happy (Kanye West)

Just gonna do my best out here.
No more power ball tickets no more day dreaming about it. I'm done I just wanna be spiritually rich.

But some people on here were talking how music isn't influential...

Ultimately, happiness is what you make it to be....

I just want to be able to buy what I want and do what I want. I want freedom and I need money for that.

There are always going to be better doing better, but there will always be people doing worse too. I think that perspective is why third world immigrants that achieved middle class tend to be happy, because they don't feel like they aint shyt because they aren't rich, they are happy to not be struggling anymore. Desiring to be rich can be good, because ambition is to be respected, but I always say if you are doing better than last year consistently that's a success, if me and my loved ones are good, I don't trip

i hear you OP. People don't realize that it's called "television programming" for a reason.

We live in a capitalist (racist) society that promotes a "money over everything" mentality. and it's no coincidence that every popular rapper/ athlete promotes this mentality aggressively. They benefit it from it, but the white owned corporations behind them are eating even more. People should stop and realize the power of a major conglomerate like LVMH. This one company owns Louis Vuiton, Moet, and Hennessy. worth 43 billion dollars. Black people contribute significantly to their billion dollar empire, yet check their home page. How much have they invested into the betterment of any black community? These brands laugh at the consumer mentality of the general public, but specifically blacks And rappers and entertainers will continue to promote them with zero accountability or reciprocation to blacks. .

You need to actively deprogram your mind and i would suggest tossing your tv/cable to the bushes first. Start looking at money as power. Do you want to give that away?

fukk all that bullshyt. When the economy slides for the umpteenth major time in my life, i dont want to be
50+ hoping not to get fired while having my savings dry up.

I dont want to twist my ankle while working some shyt ass job and have to stare down a $2000 mri bill. Thats not including the initial referral and clinic visits.

I want to be able to leave something for my kids's kids.

I want to be able to eat expensive ass healthy meals at will, even buying out of season fruits and shyt.

That broke talk :camby: i used to want things simple, but having money means you are 100% free to do other things, up to and including charity efforts. Anything you can do poor, you can probably do bigger and better rich.

Id rather have financial freedom then to be broke and miserable struggling... :mjcry:

financial freedom to do what is the question. To invest and leave a better economic future for your family 100 years from now, or blow on depreciating goods?
