the term dlc gets thrown around a lot for sequels now but the honest truth is gaming sequels haven’t gotten lesser. It’s the dlc content that has continued expanding into the length of full games.

Elden ring shadow if the erd tree, horizon burning shores, phantom liberty, blood and wine, Valhalla, etc

They’re all huge expansions that add new maps, mechanics, graphical updates, storylines and npcs, new ui, etc

That’s more than we were getting from game to game in the 7th gen. Gaming standards are so astronomicaly high these days people don’t realize how spoiled we are with options. These expansions are longer than full ps3 era games

For all the games that you mentioned, and I will also add Xenoblade 2+3 to the list because those expansion pass stories were on par with Blood and Wine.

More times than what you mentioned, they are stuff that should have been included in the base game, but they charge you for it. DLC as a concept isn't bad because you get more good content than what is in the base game. Who wouldn't want that?

The problem is the execution, which more often than not is ass. Basically tied to corporate greed. What bothers me even more is when Remakes like Persona 3 have DLC because it isn't even a fukking new game. :pacspit:
