A main eventer's status has always hinged on whether he can 'draw' or not. But isn't it more a result of the card itself as opposed to just one's star power? Top draws like Austin, Rock, Goldberg etc were in addition to star studded cards in an era that even the lowest tier wrestlers were entertaining. A large part of the ascension as wrestling gods is were out of their control, they peaked at the right time. Which points to need of building cards , not just stars if they want SUSTAINABLE ratings...but i quick fix is much easier to do. A top star is of course great but its not the end all and be all, its the 'over the top' factor.
Yes this is pretty obvious to some, but a reminder is needed b/c some of these threads get clouded with he didnt or didnt draw and ruins the subject matter...unless someone can provided more concrete evidence of someone single handily boosting ratings long-term by himself, in which case i'm all ears
