The Ego has clearly shown us it's not our friend. So why do we still try to protect it?

I agree with the point you made about the exalted position indicating ego, but can't say absolutely because it still leaves me with a couple questions.

Does speaking disregard really equate to care or concern? That would mean anything you don't care about but know about would just have to go consciously unmentioned right? I want to hear you shed more on what you mean by posturing as though one has transcended the human condition.

No living person has successfully transcended having an ego.

Making a proclamation of that level is just feeding the ego with a feelings of righteousness instead of something else.

To talk about having no ego and being above it is the same shyt as talking about haters on IG.

After reading this thread tho I've come to realize before any real conversation can be had the definition of ego must be standardized and agreed upon.

People are using the same word but ascribing different meanings to it.

Today I made it a point to periodically stop and ask myself "what are you afraid of?"

Stop worrying about why that woman in the checkout line across from me is staring so hard. Stop worrying about how I'm going to afford to pay to get my power steering pump fixed.. etc. Even considering the worse case scenario, why am I afraid?

Felt so good checking the emotional responses to all the nonsense mind chatter. This is what I call liberation but just the tip of the iceberg.
