Damn. Is this on iTunes or anywhere else? Don't wanna sign up for Spotify but I'd be interested in hearing this. His mom is still alive AFAIK - or she was a couple years ago when he gave his Sean Penn interview, which was ridiculous :russ:

Chapo was known to go into restaurants, confiscate everybody's phone while he ate, give them back when he was done, and pick up the tab for everyone in the place. The amount of random stories about this guy is crazy. He definitely went hard. Honestly if someone tried landing a helicopter in the yard at Florence ADX in 10 years to pick him up, it wouldn't be surprising . It's crazy that he surrendered and allowed himself to get captured and go to trial...it must be for a reason because he doesn't strike me as the type to just go out quietly
its free

Sinaloa, Chapo, Mayo, Vicente, never had immunity from the DEA, they definitely paid off high level government officials, (Mexican) but it was never as simple as immunity, or bribing a president. There was a lawyer, named Humberto Castro Loya, who had permission from his boss, Chapo, (who represented the interests of El Azul, Mayo and Chapo) to cooperate with US authorities, to inform on rivals and weaken their organization. This lawyer gave info to DEA about Juarez Cartel, Beltran Leyva brothers, after the separation in 2008, and what was left of the CAF in Tijuana post 2008.

Now, the lawyer, and Vicente Zambada got a little carried away, and Vicentillo wanted a meeting in Mexico City in 2009, at the Sheraton. Vicente basically wanted the same deal for himself, to cooperate with US authorities. Maybe his father wanted it too. These guys often misunderstand how US law enforcement works. DEA, had been trying to get Vicente since the Flores Twins cooperated, the previous year, they set up the meeting, no showed, rearranged the meeting, and then arrested Vicente directly afterward, using Mexican federal police, or I think the Army. Then he was extradited.

The whole "I had immunity" was just legal strategy from his lawyers. If they had immunity the DEA would not have used the Flores Twins to basically build a case on Chapo, Mayo, and his son. There is a lot of rumors and gossip and lies in the narco world, it's hard to keep it all straight.

Dude was moving cash on lear jets :wow:

lear jets were regular day shyt for these guys. I remember reading on some blog that tracks the Mexico stuff back in 2012 that Chapo (Chapo's guys) flew a fukkin 747 jumbo jet LOADED with coke to Africa and trafficked the contents to Europe via the Medeterrainian (sp?) Sea

Guadalajara seemed like his city of choice. realistically he prob had carte blanche there, versus Mexico City it would have been too hard for him to manuver

he obviously overstayed his welcome in the authorities eyes. no other reason why he was captured. look at the length of time he was free between his second and third jail escape (i think he did 3? the final one with the tunnel was no 3?) he was out for over a decade and did the bulk of his work as a fugitive

All of this comes down to poor policy. The war on drugs is a form of economic protectionism that serves to protect the place of violent cartels in the marketplace

End the war on drugs, which is a protectionist policy that only serves to inflate our crime rates and protect the position of the cartels who aren’t profiting in a marketplace that is without regulation. This only serves to inflate the police industrial complex all while hurting the American consumer and taxpayers. Legalize, regulate, drive prices down and levy an excise tax

Breh watch the El Chapo podcast on Spotify by vice.

It’s a couple episodes, like 30 minutes each. They go interview people he grew up with, I believe they interview his mom at her house.
