You're right and wrong, because the response by Trump is what made it worse.
People are right when they say media wouldn't harper on Obama or Bush for this because those two actually had pandemic response plans and wouldn't spend the whole time crying to the media about it.
It also doesn't help that we have him on the record stating, "“more deadly than your, you know, your — even your strenuous flus," while he was telling people it wasn't and PRAISING CHINA at the time (Feb 2020). It wasn't until shyt really hit the fan in March that he started blaming them, even though we have Tweets and comments on him sucking Xi's dikk about his response.
