Looks like hbcus bout to get a revival?

But are they getting funding?

I'm not sure about this. I think your big names like Howard, Morehouse, Spellman and the like probably see an uptick, but I think the borderline near misses for the "elite" schools probably end up somewhere else.

I'm surprised it took him this long to do this. Granted this isn't really much different than the Bush era policy. I wonder how they're all going to feel when Asians take up the seats that they think black people are taking from them.
Nah, they'll still find ways. 1/3 of Harvard's admissions are legacy, those are practically all White. Most of the athletic scholarships to all those white-boy sports are going to white students too. They will find ways to advantage from this for sure.

This is the key. Pretty much all of the Ivy League and other equivalent schools are moving towards this.

This is also kind of hilarious that Asians are on the forefront of this. Asians made up like 20% of Harvard's entering class this year.
Asians aren't really the forefront, it's being led by a White guy named Edward Blum. In 1990 he lost a Congressional race to a Black guy because there were too many Black people in the district who wouldn't vote for Republican, and since then he's spent his entire life devoted to trying to chip away at Black people's civil rights. He's the same guy who put forth the lawsuit that gutted the Voting Rights Act, he's been trying to force redistricting so minorities have less of an impact, he's done anti-affirmative action suits at other universities too, like that White girl who sued the University of Texas.

If they are told they dont have to factor race, that means they can factor race to prevent asians from getting the spots they want white people to have.

Unless they take race, name and location off the college applications it doesnt have to backfire, if a racist doesnt want it to

LOL, the mistake you guys make is that you believe white people give a fukk about each other on anything more than a purely tribal basis. Those spots are most definitely going to Asians of various flavors because Chad Sumner Wentworth-Hasslebach VI, admissions director, has already made sure the friends and family plan is in full effect so he could really give a fukk if Becky Sue Bingham from Schertz, Texas gets a spot over some generic suburban Asian.

There’s a lawsuit in the District of Massachusetts right now being led by Asian plaintiffs. It’s being financed by an upset white guy. After the Fisher case, they realized you can’t use a mediocre white student who wouldn’t have been invited to the party anyway, even if they had been black, Hispanic, etc.

What you could see is an overall rising of standards and quality of students if they go back to HBCUs. So you will see kids that would have gone to elite White schools in Howard, Morehouse, Spellman, NC A&T, FAMU, etc. but students previously who would have been in the top or middle of those high end HBCUs end up at Fisk, Hampton, Alabama A&M, etc.

I think you are right about those at the bottom though. They probably won't survive.

I doubt this will have much of an impact on HBCU's to be honest. Most student's in my circle who did not attend HBCU's and attended elite school's did so because it was much cheaper to attend an elite university by way of scholarship. Unless diversity based scholarships are negatively impacted, then in general Black students with the best test scores will continue to attend elite PWI's as long as those school''s are handing out diversity scholarships.

@theworldismine13 finally gets what he has always wanted.

yeah, white women and non black minorities will be the main losers

its crazy how people hang on to something that doesnt work

Most of the institutions that use race-conscious policies—which tend to be more selective instititions—already do not do a good job maintaining a diverse student body.

A look at the numbers makes their point clearly: Even with race-conscious admissions, black and Latino students represent a small fraction of the student populations at the countries most selective colleges—4 percent and 11 percentof elite research universities, respectively. And a report from the Education Trust shows that black students make up less than six percent of students enrolled at public flagship universities.

It’s funny to me how Asian ppl are always complaining about affirmative action

When their ancestral countries aren’t even accepting of foreigners
