6/10 movie to me.
Here are some things I think could've made it a great film.
- It needed greater ties to the broader MCU. Discuss the X-Gene...whole movie was regarding humanity's evolution and progression, could've easily tied in the X-Men without even having to show a single X-Man. This alone probably could've brought in 100 million more at the box office.
- Thanos should have had a cameo in the film. His brother is in the film and Thanos is a damn eternal himself. They could have easily showed a flashback that showed Titan was destroyed by a Celestial...Titan's axis and gravity was fukked up; this did not happen from a war or famine. This could have showed why Thanos did what he did.
- Druiq should have been the traitor just like he was in the comics. They showed he started to have disdain for humanity anyway, he could've felt that humanity didn't deserve to go on.
- More nuisance in the design of the deviants. They should've evolved earlier in the history to make their arc more thought-provoking. They were dumb werewolves for most of the movie.
- Lastly, they should've showed how they stood by idle while the Avengers were fighting big bads. I'm sure there was some unused footage from previous Marvel films that could've been inserted for low relative cost.
- Phastos tech being Kang's tech.
I think using only 2-3 of these could've made the movie an 8.5 if not a 9.
Overall, Phase 4 has been borderline garbage to me. Spider-Man and Strange most likely will be fire, but they easily could have films that continue the consistent greatness they put out pre- Infinity War without much effort.
