China will be alright. Their neighbors still struggling though.

Theres too many political problems over there that haven't been solved and will preclude their economic adventures.

You wanna take that road OUTSIDE of china? :heh:

they tried... but the West and Moscow don't exactly see eye to eye :mjlol:

so they looked east and Russia wants to develop its land and vast natural resources, why not work with a strategic partner?

They aren't equals and the Chinese have given Russia terrible deals.

:heh:

Terrible relative to the IMF rules imposed during Yeltsin years?

The nationalists hate those, there's even a push by them to get Putin to nationalize the central bank.

For a lot of countries it's easy to deal with China cause of the lack of strings

It has its own drawbacks but there's less straight jacket rules which has limited a lot of developing countries

I dont know why theyd do that. The CB probably already takes cues from the Kremlin. Theyve more than weathered the storm considering what the central bank has to put up with.

I dont get why there isnt room for a strong China, Russia and US. We all have to be a$$holes though...we all depend on each other too much at the end of the day. A strong china is a good thing for us and vice versa

I wish SOHH still existed so you could see I said China is not a threat over 10 years ago and it still isn't a threat.

I read it, but I honestly don't know enough about it to go either way. He mentions the propaganda involved in talking about China's economic struggles. Maybe he's right, but that's how I've been reading up on it. There's just too much shyt to keep up on.

This isn't about China being a threat to the US

It's about China making sure it doesn't get blockaded from a strategic sense.

The US has a limited foothold in Central Asia and the game is passing us by as the elites keep ruining the country and the neocons keep us bogged down in the Middle East.

Always hard to trust sources on both sides of the situation

I think the major point is that China is making substantial investments and embarking on a huge infrastructure plan to connect East and West.

Staunch US allies like Germany, Japan, Indonesia, India, etc see the value in connecting Eurasia together.

Our policy makers in DC really have no vision regarding economic integration aside from trade deals that give powers to the corporate sector. The Chinese are trying to bring all sectors together on a yuge idea and trying to lead on it.

Meanwhile we just keep talking about military and more conflict and terrorism as our prisms for viewing the world.

I can also see China going to war with Russia eventually.

Why in the world would this ever happen? Legitimately asking why you think that

i don't think china and russia have ever had problems in history have they?

USSR and PRC had a border war in 1969 that nearly went nuclear.

The Soviets and PRC under Mao became ideologically split.

China also invaded Vietnam which pissed the USSR off.

China also helped the mujahideen in Afghanistan after the Soviet invasion

Since 1991, Russia and China have significantly reduced tensions and as both countries have reformed to market economies (China having more state control obv), they've cooperated on a number of common interests and align geopolitically

China has an advantage in their ability to plan long-term, easy to do so when you're not stuck in a virtually perpetual election cycle and without a dynamic government filled with dissenting ideologies
