You can blame the government for what's transpiring. The majority of these states don't/didn't have the processes and systems in place to disperse that type of money to help solve the problem. They literally just threw the money out there and told states to figure it out on their own and in turn, citizens suffered :francis:

I don't see how they aren't going to extend the moratorium again because I truly haven't seen any sense of urgency on the government's part to properly disperse the funds.

The sad part is, there is money out there to help. Landlords should have been able to apply on behalf of those who are late as well.
And this right here is the bullshyt in all of it. I feel sorry for the landlords. 100% of these evictions were completely preventable wether the person applied for assistance or moved out until they could rent again or made payment arrangements with their landlord.

And that's where the government made the biggest mistake in the entire situation of not allowing that situation to happen. The money was going to go to the landlord anyways, so why not let them help the tenant, which would benefit all parties involved.

NYS eviction moratorium doesn't end till the day after August 31st which would be the beginning of September.

In NYS, Landlords and renters have been able to apply for assistance since June 1st and can still apply as long as funds are available...might be different in other states I'm assuming.

It’s driving rental prices through the roof though. People can’t stay rent free forever

I’m trying to find me a new place without paying $500 extra a month

Is rent going to get cheaper because of this?
