I think Biden wanted to extend it if delta got worse. Its getting worse, so he asked congress to vote on it. The Dems dropped their suit because they didn't even have the votes in the house.. even tho it would've surely died in the senate.

That's no excuse seeing as 1. Biden said a month ago that he was going to let the eviction expire this month and 2. That Supreme Court decision was made months ago so Biden and Congress knew the clock was ticking to come up with some sort of solution. You do that shyt months ago (they've had over a year) and not the day before it expires.

This entire pandemic the government has literally just threw bread out there with no process or actual guidelines in how it was supposed to be dispersed and allocated. They should have simplified and streamlined the process months ago to allow landlords to file on behalf of their tenants, which would benefit all parties involved.

What's the purpose of having billions of dollars out there to be had for tenants/landlords if the application process is too complicated for even the states to figure out? These states out here don't want mass evictions no more than the federal government does because it becomes their problem.

The sad part is we are headed towards another lockdown and all those renters that refused or couldn’t pay and getting kicked out won’t be able to rent a new place with these recent evictions on their records

From my understanding the lanlords were complaining the tenants never applied for the rental assistances, and were just staying their for free

maybe they didn't know how to do it, whatever, they you've been leaving rent free forever a year and getting unemployment you should be able to move or work something out wit the land lord, and should be employed by now

people don't want to work, because they can live off that employment if they don't have to pay rent, not all these people are victims

If that's the case, then the government should have allowed the landlords to file claims on behalf of their tenants which would have benefitted all parties involved. The government has had over a year to come up with a solution and process to allocate the money and they still couldn't even do that right.

I wasn't making excuses for him.. not sure why you're comin at me. You're right.. if he foresaw something like this possibly happening, the wheels should've already been in motion. :manny:

Unfortunately, you can't put the wheels in motion if you've been on vacation with no plans of coming back until mid-September :francis:

Democrats said give us control and we'll make things happen. People did what they asked, so make shyt happen :yeshrug:

Because of their messaging, they can't blame Republicans for what's transpiring as voters did what was asked of them in getting full control of Congress.

Congress gotta stop waiting until the last minute to get shyt done as you run into situations like this quite frequently when you do.

Me and you both know that, but that didn't stop them from lying to voters saying that they would if they won those two GA seats lol. They didn't have a choice but to as they weren't winning both seats without doing so.

In their defense.. they didn't see Manchin and Sinema being the way they are. You take those two out of the equation, and I think you'd see a more functioning congress.

Yeaaa, those jobs won't pay my rent (that got raised during COVID btw, to cover for the other tenets who STOPPED paying)

and what makes you think them minimum wage jobs (a lot of them probably not even 40 hours a week) is going to cover months of back rent?

don't fall for the okey doke on these job openings breh.

:patrice:

Terrible jobs have openings, who knew :mjlol:

These companies are out here trying to finesse still.

It depends on the industry, but in IT, they still don't want to budge from $18/hr contract to hire with shytty benefits.

Mind you, you are competing with waaaay more people for every opening now that is worth a damn. From layoffs to recent grads, its a madhouse out here.

Spoke to a recruiter yesterday about this. He keeps telling these companies that it isn't 2009 any more. Raise the damn payrate.

That's Democrats problem though as those two people are members of their own party. The only thing people will pay attention to is the letter next to their name. That's why Nancy didn't want to make the vote public because their party would be the one thrown under the bus since they are ones who have control of Congress.
