It backfired though and comes across like an homage. It also showed he studied Em to do it.

Yeah I think it went over too many people's heads.

I'm guessing a lot of Em fans are Game fans too due to the Aftermath heritage, so Game effectively alienated all those cacs from his fanbase.

It's whatever tho, a good rollout for Game in 2022 is the difference between 20k and 30k first week. And if Em responds, this could be a legendary battle.

Nah that Burning Checks track is flames. It's obviously a conceptualized drill song, Game ain't out here pulling hits (he never was). He rapped his ass off on it...

I ain't made it thru this long ass album yet, but so far it sounds typical Game, high level lyricism (this is probably his highest ever and that's saying something for a guy who has displayed elite rapping abilities for years) with too many filler
tracks...

I'm a Game fan, always have been, and I think he's one of the 40 greatest rappers ever. But I disagree vehemently with those claiming he has one of the GOAT discogs---->he doesn't. Almost all his albums are average, or slightly above or below that, because he overdoes something unnecessarily on each album. Way too much filler is his MO, whoever helps him pick the tracks for his album must be trash, because if the ones that make his albums are the best of the recording sessions, that tells you how trash the rest were...

Example, the Doc 2 and Doc 2.5 were waaaayyyy too heavy on the gangbanging and fukking bytches themes. Way too heavy, and too long. Game would historically be viewed differently if his albums just shaved some of the dead weight off. He had some high ass "highs" on those two, he didn't have to overplay those themes and this is why he doesn't really have any classics aside from The Documentary....

I do agree that he doesn't have many garbage albums though. Just way too much average material from a guy who, from a rapping skillset purview, is an ELITE, elite spitter. So much unrealized potential...

He only has like 5-6 standout tracks on here (Burnin Checks, Outside, Heart Vs Mind, Black Slim Shady, Stupid, Universal Love). Game two decades in and never learned that less is more---->he'd have a classic on his hands if he kept just these six tracks, and added 4-6 of the best of the rest...

As it is, he overdoes it with filler tracks that should been throwaways, and overplays the drill theme on too many songs. It's a "good" album, like most of his albums are. It's "good". Too much unnecessary shyt to be GREAT...

This album is weird af. I dont think anyones predictions were wrong, across the spectrum. Album of the year? Maybe. Trash album? In some respects. Mad name dropping and dikkriding? Of course. Does it work and pay homage? Also yes. Features trash? Sometimes. Features great? Sometimes. Too many tracks? Yes. Too much filler? Not really.

This shyt is as Bipolar as Game himself :mjlit::wow:

5/5 but also 1/5

My man you can't have it both ways it either good or trash. Can't sit up and say it's a 10/10 (which it isn't) then say it's 1/10.

So the following tracks are not 'stand outs':

Voodoo
Home Invasion
Chromes Slug And Harmony
Twisted
Save The Best For Last

:comeon:

I'm sorry, I don't believe you. There are universally at least 12 great tracks on here. What I mean by great is complete STAND OUT songs. You can add like 4-6 songs that are above average IMO.

Do better breh

Personally from a music perspective this was a very good album from Game. He just went overboard on the features & number of tracks. 30 songs are a lot for a double album if it isn't not well balanced out like Life after Death or AEOM. I do like how Game was able to flip some of the old school samples and make themwork.

When I compare Drillmatic to some of Game's previous albums, I put this recent release on the same level as Documentary 2/2.5 (balanced better).

Overall - 7.5/10

I do think that The Black Slim Shady joint was a slick joint but with all the antics Game pulled to promote Drillmatic it really backfired when Em's second greatest hits release outsold his album.
