The Game - DRILLMATIC Heart vs. Mind (Discussion Thread)

I REALLY like this album but for it to have been AOTY with THIRTY fukkING SONGS I personally feel like he should have added a certain theme or concept and presented it as a double album. I know he wasn’t going for consistency and wanted to showcase his versatility, and in that he succeeded. Game might legitimately be the most versatile mainstream rapper of his generation. He can effortlessly pull off ANY flow on ANY type of production. Unfortunately that type of chameleon like talent makes it hard to get a sense of who Game HIMSELF is; which can lead to a certain detachment amongst listeners.

One of things i’ll also add is that Game is so good as a rapper that all the features were NOT needed. I could have lived without Lil Wayne, G Herbo, YoungBoy, Blueface, Moneybag Yo, & French Montana. Wayne’s feature was absolutely TERRIBLE!

But when the features work they REALLY work. Asap Rocky is really making a case for being one of the most underrated rappers out. This nikka been KILLING all of his features lately.

If you take the top 15 tracks from this album you have an undeniable AOTY contender. But as it stands it’s 4.25/5

I liked OPP til YoungBoy came on, shyt was trash after that.

World tours, being that it was blocked on spotifiy I didn't hear. I tried to go to youtube to review it and the only one I found didn't have a Nip verse and sounded like an older song so I'm not sure what the actual track sounds like.

I never got the Asap hate. he rarely puts out wack verses even if you don't think hes saying anything or the creative vision doesn't meld. Dude a good mc and you can always guarantee he not going to detract from a track .

Some of the features are unnecessary so I prefer the Game solo on some songs. It's like you wish 2Pac only do solo on Hail Mary without Outlaws.

With that said, this album is a banger.
