The Game Loses Lawsuit For Punching An Off-Duty Cop, Will Pay $100k In Damages

The Game is giving a Los Angeles cop an awesome late Christmas present -- a $100k -- and all the cop had to do in return was take a punch.

We've learned the rapper just lost a lawsuit filed by Onyebuhi Awaji, an off-duty cop he punched during a dispute on a basketball court in Hollywood in March. We dont have to say "allegedly punched" because it was caught on video.

Turns out there was never a trial ... Game blew the whole thing off and never responded to the suit so a judge entered a default judgement in the cop's favor.

Here's how the $100k breaks down -- 60k bucks for damages the cop actually suffered and another $40k to teach Game a lesson not to do it again.

The jury's out on whether or not Game learned a lesson.

Thats the kind of thing that happens when you don't show up in court or even respond to the charges. Judges tend not to like that.

Due Process guarantees a defendant (civil or criminal) "an opportunity to be heard". Im thinking Jayceon could have afforded to take action on his opportunity to be heard
