Game should have hired a lawyer. I strongly doubt he couldn't afford to. He wouldn't even have had to be there, just throw a few figures at a civil defense lawyer and lay low for a little while. Maybe even negotiate a smaller settlement outside of court.

Game with the W for what? This is a civil dispute and doesn't preclude criminal action against him. There is nothing smart about what he did in this case, there is nothing to prevent the state from filing criminal charges if they have sufficient evidence.
