I've always held a special place in my heart the Permian Triassic extinction. Imagine the direction life was heading in before it's was wiped out to the brink of extinction and forced to restart. What would life be now had that event never occurred?
To me of all the sciences geology is the most fascinating to me. It's like reading the language of the earth and learning of its history.
