Why would he kick himself? He's laying comfortably in hell smiling at the fact he's a part of the reason why the Black community is still in a bad shape today.

That's crazy, imagine if Trump's 3 justices voted in favor of Roe
To be fair, Democrats controlled both houses of Congress in the '70s. So that definitely influenced his SC picks.

Also, the Federalist Society didn't exist yet (...not until 1982 under Reagan).

In a June 14, 1973 Oval Office meeting with Anne Armstrong, counselor to the president, Nixon said black people couldn't run Jamaica. "Blacks can’t run it. Nowhere, and they won’t be able to for a hundred years, and maybe not for a thousand. … Do you know, maybe one black country that’s well run?"

I think Nixon himself did support abortion being legal though (for racist reasons)

Shyt nevermind Nixon but just think if Goldwater was a candidate en route to winning the presidency in this current political climate :mjpls:

A lot of people don't know this but Goldwater laid down the format and particular elements of this current Republican climate some cite Regan which is true to certain extents but Goldwater and other GOP candidates of the mid-late 60s/early 70s would've loved what's happening in this climate :sas2:

You can say that about a lot of events if you paired it with todays climate.

JKF murder would’ve been a false flag. Antifa would’ve been blamed. The Cuban nuke crisis would’ve been fake news.

And the civil rights act wouldn’t have been passed.

It's the internet/social media. It gives a huge platform for idiots, trolls and agents to spread bullshyt and influence millions of people in a very short period of time.

Different times during Watergate. Back then it was a basic CBS/NBC/ABC non-partisan news cycle that just told you what was going on. So most of the country wasn't radicalized and highly partisan. There was a majority agreement among a common set of facts. And House & Senate members still had a moral compass and adherence to the rule of law and constitution. Which is why Republican Senators went to the white house and told him he had to go.

If Nixon had Fox News (and social media for that matter), he would have survived Watergate and finished his term. Because Fox News would have protected Nixon, convinced enough people that it was a witch hunt against Nixon and spread false statements, more people in the country would have believed it, and more House & Senate members would have been reluctant to cross their voters out of fear of losing their seats.

Put Trump in the 70's when he got Impeached the first time for trying to get Ukraine to investigate Biden and effect the 2020 election. He would have been removed from office by Congress.

Interestingly enough, most Republican voters still supported Nixon during and after his impeachment.

"Even though most Americans did eventually support removing Nixon from office, Republican voters were mostly not part of that consensus. Days before he resigned, a Gallup poll found that only 31 percent of Republicans thought Nixon should no longer be president. And some of those supporters deeply resented their representatives for their role in ousting Nixon, which may even have contributed to the Democratic landslide in the 1974 midterm elections."
