Didn't read the whole thread, but that y'all think of this show? I been obsessed with this time period and the wild west for years. I started to watch this Friday night, but only got a few minutes in before I got sidetracked... like I usually do whenever I try to watch something new these days.

Like the tweet above says…it’s low stakes guilty pleasure viewing. The same guy who made Downtown Abby makes this, so it’s not some hard hitting critical look and the wealthy and their exploitation of the system and those who suffer due to it.

From a technical standpoint, the show is well acted, moves a long at a solid pace and is good background noise. I’m talking the first 2 seasons…haven’t seen S3 premiere yet.

Honestly show would fit better on the CW rather than HBO but HBO hasn’t been setting the world on fire as of late either.

I really enjoy it. It’s a nice change of pace for HBO.

I'll try to give it a shot this weekend. It just takes me so long to get into shows nowadays, like 4-5 episodes before I'm invested. I multi-task like 12-13 hours out the day so I don't really have focused chill time like that. But this looks interesting.

Not what you asked, but if you haven't checked them out if you like this time period in "Cinemax" shows, watch The Knick for NY and Warrior for "the Wild West".

As for The Gilded Age...I find it watchable but I can't help myself for comparing it to The Knick. And after you watch The Knick...The Gilded age looks super "sanitized". Everything looks way too clean and idealized, where in The Knick you can practically smell that that world STINKS.
